EC stresses transfer policy implementation in Kolkata press conference

In a recent meeting discussing election preparations in the state, demands were raised for the proper implementation of the commission's transfer policy. Representatives from various political parties emphasized the need for transparency and adherence to guidelines during the electoral process.

During the discussion, several demands were voiced by different parties, including the deployment of central forces at all polling stations, the implementation of CCTV surveillance, and the introduction of online applications for rally permissions. Additionally, there were calls for an increased number of election observers with accessible mobile numbers, the avoidance of temporary workers' employment, and the affirmation of the right to hold elections without Aadhaar. Addressing concerns over electoral integrity, Rajeev Kumar highlighted initiatives such as voter helpline apps and stringent measures to combat fake news. With over 5,000 centenarian voters, 80,453 polling stations, and provisions for essential facilities like electricity, water, and wheelchair accessibility, the Election Commission assured comprehensive arrangements for a smooth electoral process, including the reservation of many polling stations for women and enhanced security measures for EVM storage and DGP will be responsible if violence occurs.
